Funeral pall

The Charitable Trust commissioned a magnificent funeral pall which can be borrowed for the funeral or memorial service of any Liveryman or Freeman.

If you would like to borrow the funeral pall then please email the Company’s Assistant Clerk to arrange collection and delivery from our London office, which on most occasions will need to be on a Wednesday.

Please use the form below to sign a simple agreement which includes you undertaking to meeting the cost of rectifying any damage.

If you have any questions, the Assistant Clerk will do her best to answer them.


THE CHARITABLE TRUST OF THE WORSHIPFUL COMPANY OF CHARTERED SECRETARIES AND ADMINISTRATORS

RULES FOR THE LOAN AND USE OF THE FUNERAL PALL BELONGING TO THE CHARITABLE TRUST

  1. The Funeral Pall (hereinafter called “the pall”) belonging to the Charitable Trust of the Worshipful Company of Chartered Secretaries and Administrators (hereinafter called “the Trust”) may be used by the executors or administrators of the estate of any deceased Liveryman, Freeman or Apprentice of the Worshipful Company of Chartered Secretaries and Administrators (hereinafter called “the Company”) for the purposes of any funeral, memorial service or cremation for the deceased member of the Company on such date or dates as may be agreed between the said executors or administrators and the Trustees of the Trust (hereinafter called “the Trustees”) and on such terms and conditions as are set out in these Rules and as may from time to time be imposed by the Trustees.
  2. The responsibility for the proper care of the pall whilst it is lent to the executors or administrators (hereinafter called “the borrower”) shall be entirely that of the borrower and the borrower shall indemnify the Trustees by signing an acknowledgement of these Rules that it will make good to the satisfaction of the Trustees any loss or damage to the pall whilst it is in the possession of the borrower.
  3. The Trustees shall maintain a policy of insurance for the protection of the pall whilst it is in the possession of the borrower and the borrower shall observe all conditions required by the issuer of that policy whilst the pall is in its possession. The borrower specifically accepts the conditions relating to the security of the pall in any hotel and the prohibition against leaving it in an unattended motor vehicle.
  4. All costs incurred in transporting the pall to the borrower and returning it to the Company’s office or such other place as the Trustees may require shall be borne by the borrower.
