Sylvia Irene Maud TUTT 1983/84

Sylvia Tutt joined the Company in 1977. She enjoyed the distinction of becoming the first lady to be a Master of a Livery Company and was the author of the book ‘A Mastership of a Livery Company‘, in which she described in detail her activities in her year as Master of the Company.

Her distinguished term of office was memorable not only for the Company, but also for the Livery of the City of London and indeed for the professional and business community of the United Kingdom and other countries of the Commonwealth, where Chartered Secretaries and Administrators lived and served.

As Master, Sylvia Tutt greatly enhanced the reputation of the Company by her devotion to it’s purposes and worthily maintained it’s charitable work.

The Resolution of Thanks to Miss Tutt stated “The election of Miss Sylvia Tutt as Master of the Company was a further landmark in a career which demonstrates the highest standard of service to womankind and to the profession of Chartered Secretary and Administrator and which commands the utmost respect and gratitude to all.”
