Christina Parry held office as Master of the Company for 2018-2019. She had been a WCCSA Liveryman for 10 years. She qualified professionally after university, when working as assistant to the Chief Executive of a professional Institute, before joining the Civil Service.
Christina’s working career was primarily in UK central government administration, initially as a technical tax inspector. She held various technical and management roles in the Inland Revenue. She moved on secondment to the UK Charity Commission’s London office, with management responsibility for charity regulation, including most of the largest charities. She finally moved to the Immigration Department of the Home Office, as a Senior Civil Servant and Operations Director, before retiring in 2007.
Christina was awarded the OBE in the Queen’s Birthday Honours in 2007 for services to the Home Office.
After teaching in China in 2008, Christina Parry studied Christian Theology at London and Malta Universities, leading to international links with a number of academic and Christian institutions. Currently she operates in partnership with the Diocese of Rochester, and is a Visiting Lecturer at St Philip’s Theological College in Tanzania. She has held many voluntary public service roles, and is a trustee of Age UK, Bromley and Greenwich.
As Chairman of the WCCSA Education Committee, Christina Parry expanded the Company’s education outreach. Following the Company’s decision to admit Chartered Governance Professionals, she is broadening the programme for members, and developing WCCSA’s professional and international connections.
