In order to be admitted as a Liveryman of the Company, candidates in the first instance have to be eligible for admission to the Freedom. This is most often by ‘redemption’ or payment of a fee and proposal by a Liveryman of the Company.
Successful candidates are admitted to the Freedom of the Company following an interview and a ceremony. They then become a Freeman. Being a Freeman entitles members to participate in the Company’s programme of events.
The Freeman must then take that Freedom to the Guildhall and obtain the Freedom of the City of London, unless he or she is already a City Freeman.
Once the Freedom of the City is obtained, the candidate is then eligible to be admitted as a Liveryman of the Company.
