We held our January Livery Luncheon on Wednesday 22nd January, following a Court Meeting where we admitted two new Freemen, Deborah Harvey and Alistair MacLellan.
The luncheon, which was held in the historic and beautiful Apothecaries Hall was an opportunity to spotlight our own Charitable Trust. If all our various activities and Committees are body parts of our WCCSA, to give a nod to St. Paul’s theology, then our Charitable Trust must be our beating heart. The Chair of our Charitable Trust, Past Master Julie Fox gave us an update on the charities that we support with our personal donations. They include the London Air Ambulance and St Mungo’s as well as many smaller charities, where our impact can be profound.
As a way of raising funds for our Charitable Trust, we held a fun auction after lunch. PM Fox provided us with a wonderful auctioneer, Tim Anthonisz and his partner Theresa and there was much fun as keen buyers outbid each other to win the very generous auction prizes that many of our members so kindly donated. We also had a raffle, with some lovely prizes also generously donated by our members.
It seems that a good time was had by all, raising awareness and money for our charitable endeavours. At the same lunch we awarded Miss Evie Page the 2023/24 John Phillips Memorial Prize and Col. Mike Dudding awarded his prize for 2021, to Captain Charles Goodwyn.
